Omron M1 BASIC BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

With the OMRON M1 Basic, you can now measure your blood pressure comfortably, quickly, and accurately. It is equipped with Intellisense technology which ensures that there is less discomfort from over-inflation of the cuff.
The Omron M1 Basic is a large cuff device that extends up to 42 cm which is 10 cm larger than the standard cuff. Those  with a large arm circumference of 42 cm can use the M1 Basic.
The blood pressure readings have two numbers (e. g. 118/78 mmHg, which is Systolic/Diastolic or SYS/DIA). The highest pressure in the cycle is called the Systolic Blood Pressure. The lowest is the Diastolic Blood Pressure. Both are necessary to enable healthcare professional to evaluate the status of your blood pressure.
Ideally, we should all have a blood pressure below 120 over 80 (120/80). At this level, we have a much lower risk of heart disease or stroke.

There are two circumstances in which you might test your blood pressure at home: because your doctor has asked you to, or because you want to keep an eye on it yourself. If you’re taking medication or making lifestyle changes to reduce your blood pressure, it can help you set goals and keep track of your progress – in fact patients who monitor their own blood pressure are more likely to be successful in their aims.

And if you’re one of those people whose blood pressure goes up whenever you walk in to a doctor’s surgery or hospital waiting room (a condition known as white-coat hypertension), measuring it at home can give a more realistic picture of what it’s like in more relaxed day-to-day conditions.
