Fans of the super popular and award-winning Shadow of Mordor will be more than ready for the third person open world RPG sequel. Wedged between the storylines of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, Shadow of War continues on from the end of the last game.
Tailon from the first game is half dead and sharing his body with a dark elf spirit called Celebrimbor. Together they forged a ring so they could bring a giant Force together to fight Sauron. The main aim is to defeat Sauron but there’s a lot standing in your way – including thousands of loyal followers and a huge Force. Luckily for you, Celebrimbor has passed on a few mythical powers to help you out.
Taking on your enemies has been the main part of most games, but it’s not often that you then get to control them and turn them to your cause. Beat up your enemies as much as you like, then recruit them using Celebrimbor’s mind powers. Now that they are on your side, it’s up to you how and when you use them.
Before you step onto the next battlefield you will need to plan your attack, who are you taking with you and who’s staying behind. Remember though that every fortress will have different tactics, occupants and weaknesses. While bruiser orcs might be great at breaking through the main gates, they aren’t so good when it comes to long-distance snipers, so plan accordingly.
If you have been impressed with one particular orcs behaviour, let them see your gratitude – give them a castle. They take care of it while your continuing your chase after Sauron, and they protect it from any raiders whilst your away. Just be prepared that when you appoint someone to take care of a new stronghold, the stronghold itself and the surroundings will change to match their initial tribe. Just make sure you have appointed someone trust worthy to take care of your new lands, as there’s a strong chance that Sauron and his Force will be paying a visit.
