Consider your scenario: light outdoor use like camping or travel versus heavy-duty lifting at a worksite. For casual use, a modest WLL and standard pin work fine; for professional tasks, select a higher WLL and consider a locking or screw-pin version for added security.

Keep the shackel clean and inspect for cracks, deformation, or thread wear; ensure the pin is fully seated and tight. Verify that rope or chain diameters match the shackle throat and that materials are compatible to avoid galvanic corrosion and binding.
