Licorice has been used medicinally since 500 BC. In China, it was called the great detoxifier and was thought to drive poisons from the system. It is also an important tonic, often called 'the grandfather of herbs.' Licorice Root Tea is said to be beneficial to symptoms of hypoglycemia, bronchitis, colitis, diverticulosis, gastritis, stress, nausea, and inflammation. CAUTION: do not use if you have high blood pressure.

Pour one cup of fresh boiling water over tea, steep 4-6 minutes. The longer the tea steeps, the stronger the flavor. Lemon or honey may be added.
