Please take note Solar power component sizing:

1.      Inverter is sized in VA (Volts Amps) or KVA(Kilo Volts Amps). Kilo is equivalent to 1000VA. The inverter size gives an indication of the maximum steady power handling capacity.

2.      Battery is sized in Ah(Amps-Hour). A typical trailer battery is 200Ah. Half of that is 10Ah, quarter of that is 50Ah and so on. The battery size, like a water tank, gives an indication of the maximum amount of electrical energy that can be stored for use when the sun goes down or NEPA fails.

3.      Solar panel is sized in Watts and Voltage and the number of standard cells used to assemble a panel/board. Typically, you have 150Watts/18V/36Cells for 12V inverters. 250Watts/30V/60Cell and 300Watts/36V/72Cells solar panels are for 24V inverter systems. The total solar panel size indicates the instantaneous Solar power that is generated to power your appliances and to simultaneously charge the battery.

4.      In all this analysis, the bigger, the better, the more power you have to use and the more the cost of the system. But the engineer/installer must carefully calculate and match the right size of each components.
