Product details

During the past decade ethical theory has been in a lively state of development, and three basic approaches to ethics - Kantian ethics, consequentialism, and virtue ethics - have assumed positions of particular prominence.

The best part of this book is Baron's charpter on Kantian

Ethics. It is amazing. Even if you don't use this book, you should used Baron's chapter for your classes.

The book also has chapters defending consequentialism/utilitarianism (Pettit) and also virtue ethics (Slote). The Slote chapter is an okay defense of Virtue Ethics and the Petit chapter is not a great intro to consequentialism / utilitarianism. Both Slote and Petit's chapters work okay (in contrast to Baron's which is amazing), but over all the book is a great intro text because it covers the 3 main approaches in a good/accurate way even if no chapter does as good of a job as Baron does.
