They are carefully prepared for reliable home sprouting, making them ideal for anyone looking to grow fresh greens on a windowsill or kitchen counter. Microgreens are tender with delicate leafy tops. Typical yield As a guide, 1 tablespoon of seeds will produce roughly 1–2 cups of fresh sprouts, depending on growing conditions. Microgreen yield will vary by tray size and density of sowing. How to sprout organic broccoli seeds (jar method) 1. Place 2–3 tbsp of seeds in a jar with a mesh lid and cover with cold water. Soak overnight. 2. Drain and rinse thoroughly. 3. Rinse and drain 2–3 times daily, keeping the jar at an angle to allow airflow and prevent excess moisture. 4. After around 3 days the seeds will begin to sprout. Keep out of direct sunlight and continue rinsing for a further 2–3 days. 5. Once small green leaves appear, give a final rinse and ensure the sprouts are well drained and surface-dry. 6. Transfer to an airtight container lined with kitchen paper and refrigerate. Sprouts are usually ready in 5–6 days and will keep for 1–2 weeks in the fridge if kept dry. Good drainage, regular rinsing and clean equipment help reduce the risk of mould during sprouting. How to grow organic broccoli microgreens (soil method) 1. Fill a shallow tray with damp compost or growing medium. 2. Evenly scatter seeds over the surface and lightly press down. 3. Cover and keep away from light for 3–5 days while they germinate. 4. Mist daily to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. 5. Once shoots appear, uncover and place in good natural light (a bright windowsill is ideal; direct sunlight is not essential). 6. Harvest in 5–12 days when around 5 cm tall by cutting just above the soil. Microgreens are best used fresh and will keep in the fridge for several days. Storage of seeds Store seeds in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, reseal tightly to maintain freshness and germination rates. Suitable for indoor growing throughout the year.
