Description
The BX-P16 power bank case is a kit for assembling a portable power bank with 16 18650 Li-ion batteries and a 20-LED flashlight. The case houses a charging module board with an IP5356 controller, delivering a maximum output power of 22.5 W with an efficiency of up to 95%.
The 20,000 mAh capacity marking on the casing isn't the actual capacity of the finished power bank, but rather a designation the manufacturer assigns to different batches. The actual capacity of your power bank depends solely on the type of 18650 batteries you install. For example, if you install 3,000 mAh batteries each, the total capacity will be 16 × 3,000 = 48,000 mAh. If you install 3,500 mAh batteries, the total capacity will be 16 × 3,500 = 56,000 mAh. It's also important to note that the controller doesn't discharge the batteries to the cutoff level, but rather reserves some capacity for natural self-discharge and to prevent premature degradation, so the actual capacity will be lower than the calculated one. To ensure proper indication of the power bank's charge level, several full charge-discharge cycles are required.
The actual capacity of a finished power bank is also affected by the quality of the batteries themselves, storage time before use, the number of charge/discharge cycles, ambient temperature, etc.
ATTENTION: When using for the first time, please follow these recommendations:
- When installing batteries, observe polarity. Connecting the battery with the wrong polarity to existing batteries may cause the spring contact to burn out and damage the battery itself.
- Before installing the batteries, ensure that their charge levels are approximately equal and balanced, no more than 1-2%. To do this, you can insert the batteries one at a time into the power bank's compartment and monitor the charge level indicator. This is necessary to avoid overheating batteries with significantly different charge levels; automatic balancing will occur later when connected in parallel. If the battery charge level is unknown, it is recommended to wait 30-60 minutes after inserting them into the enclosure for automatic balancing to occur.
- After installing the batteries for the first time, the power bank is activated after connecting the charging cable.
- It is recommended to charge the power bank when connecting for the first time, then discharge it until it turns off completely and recharge it to properly calibrate the charge indicator.
- With an input battery charging power of 18 W, the maximum current supplied from the charging board to the battery can reach 5 A. Therefore, if there are fewer than 16 batteries, ensure that this current does not exceed the permissible value specified in the battery datasheet. This means that for 16 batteries, a 5 A current will be distributed approximately 0.31 A per battery. Otherwise, charging a small number of batteries at a high current not designed for them could cause them to overheat and fail.
- The output current from the batteries to the module board can also reach currents exceeding 5 amperes in the case of deep discharge and maximum consumption at the USB port output. Therefore, it is recommended to install a sufficient number of batteries so that this load is distributed evenly among them and does not exceed the currents stated in the battery datasheet.
The batteries are charged in three stages TC-CC-CV:
- at voltage less than 3 V, batteries are charged by slow charging in TC mode (current ≤200 mA);
- at a voltage of 3 V, charging is carried out with constant current in CC mode (current 5...0.4 A);
- After approaching the full charge voltage value, the device switches to constant voltage charging mode with a decrease in the charging current to the minimum threshold, after which charging stops.
When only one device is connected, the power bank supports any fast-charging output. When multiple devices are connected, the power bank only supports 5V output across all ports, with a total output of up to 18W.
When charging at 5V, the input power is up to 10W, when charging at 9V or 12V, the input power is 18W, in PD mode, the maximum power can reach 22.5W.
To quickly charge the power bank itself and devices connected to it via fast charging cables, it's best to use a high-quality cable that can handle high currents.
When the batteries are first installed, the charge indicator may not display accurate battery levels, as the device does not yet understand the battery's charge level. Once the power bank is fully charged and discharged, the indicator will display accurate battery levels. The charge indicator is activated by pressing the button next to the screen.
The power bank is charged via a USB type-C port.
The USB Type-C port supports the PD3.0 standard, operates bidirectionally for both input and output, and supports QC2.0/QC3.0 fast charging. There are also two USB-A ports that support QC3.0 fast charging. The device's board itself supports various charging standards, including QC2.0, QC3.0, PD2.0, PD3.0, FCP, AFC, SFCP, BC1.2, Apple, and Samsung.
The body contains an LED panel of 20 LEDs , which serves as a flashlight. The flashlight is turned on/off by long pressing the button (about 2 seconds), and each subsequent press changes the operating mode of the lamp.
The lamp operating modes, depending on the number of button presses, have the following sequence of operation:
