This book covers the core topics of legal theory as well as a review of the main theories in the field of Jurisprudence. The standpoint is that of Natural Law and special attention is given to the tradition of analytical Jurisprudence.
It is written having specially in mind the needs of Nigerian law students. It covers all the topics ~ contained in the NUC-approved syllabus for the course, uses many examples drawn from Nigerian “law, and pays attention to several recent controversies among Nigerian academics. Above all, it concentrates on the essential points and discusses them in rather elaborate detail in order to compensate for what most Nigerian law students have lost by not taking any courses in Philosophy or in History of Thought during their secondary and university studies.
The Author Dr. J. M. Elegido taught Jurisprudence in the Faculty of Law of the Anambra State University of Technology from 1987 to 1991. He now teaches Business Ethics in the Lagos Business School. He has published widely in international journals in the fields of Jurisprudence and Tax Law.
