Long Slim Cayenne is a pepper ideally suited for home gardens. Plants are very early maturing, approximately seventy-five days after transplanting & bear pendent, cylindrical fruit.
Cayenne Slim is a long, thin, fiery pepper which grow 5 to 6" long. Its wrinkly skin turns from dark green to bright red. Thin walls make drying easy. The large, spreading plants produce a bountiful harvest. This pepper is good for hot sauces, pickles, drying, and making ground cayenne pepper.
It bears cylindrical fruits. Fruit colour: medium green turning to medium red.
The fruit are thin walled and ripen from green to a fiery red. Use for hot sauces, drying, decoration and dehydration.
These 13 to 15 cm (5-6") long peppers can be eaten while green or red.
Peppers need a warm soil and night temperature to prosper.
Location should be sheltered from the wind and soil should be kept reasonably moist. Set pepper plant seedlings out after the last spring frost.
They grow well in raised beds, containers, and in-ground gardens. Plant them 18 to 24 inches apart in a sunny, well-drained spot.
Pepper plants need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day. Mix compost or other organic matter into the soil when planting.
Water immediately after planting, then regularly throughout the season.
