Product details

In 2015 the Elim Pentecostal Church celebrated its Centenary. This high quality, hugely readable book tells the story of the Elim Church from its earliest roots in the Welsh Revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Azusa Street. It is packed with pictures, many of which haven’t been seen before, that bring the story of Elim to life from its first days through to the 21st Century, and looking to the future. The founder, George Jeffreys, was a coal miner from South Wales converted in the Welsh revival who then experienced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as the waves from Azusa Street swept through the British Isles. But it was in Northern Ireland in 1915 that Elim was founded, with Jeffreys and a group of young men and women with a heart and passion to see their land changed with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From those beginnings the Elim movement started with tent and evangelistic meetings. Dramatic healings soon became a hallmark of these evangelistic meetings and this book charts the dynamic impact the young leaders of Elim soon had as they travelled the length and breadth of Britain through the 1920s and 30s. Many of those dramatic healings were documented and this book features pictures and testimonies of the mass meetings and the miracles that took place. You will also read the moving story of how the congregation and ministers of the Elim Churches in Guernsey were affected by World War II as the Channel Islands were occupied by the Germany Third Reich. The challenges of churches Post War. The tragedy of the Elim missionaries martyred in the Vumba in what was then known as Rhodesia. And how today the Elim Churches across the UK and worldwide are vibrant testimonies to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The stories and photos in this book will amaze you, build your faith, challenge and inspire you. Thoroughly researched and meticulously compiled it is a book any Christian, especially anyone with an interested in modern church history, will cherish.
