Pickup Patterns
The Yeti has four Pickup Patterns. Cardioid, Stereo, omnidirectional, Bi-directional. Each Blue Yeti pattern changes the microphone's pickup direction, maximum sensitivity and sound rejection. It is important to select the pickup pattern that suits your recording instance.
Omnidirectional mode can pick up the voices of people 30 feet from the microphone. This is good for an event like a town hall meeting, instrumental recording, or group singing. For a single person podcast, the cardioid mode works best. If you are recording with someone else sitting opposite, then the Bi-directional mode is perfect.
Zero Latency
The one feature you will love is the headphone jack built into the mic. Most USB microphones do not have this feature. With the Yeti, you get to hear yourself in real time. No delays. Other USB mics have a 200-400 msec delay which makes it impossible to speak and listen to yourself at the same time. The Yeti returns the sound to you directly from the mic via the 3.5mm jack without passing it through the computer. There is no delay (it goes via analog path), and you get real-time feedback, which is great.

For sound clarity, and rich vocal tones this is the mic to buy.
