There are two separate versions of Double Agent. The first version was made by Ubisoft Montreal (Splinter Cell and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory) and was released for GameCube, PlayStation 2, Wii, and Xbox. The second version was made by Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Shanghai, developers of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and was released for PlayStation 3, Windows and Xbox 360.The Ubisoft Milan and Shanghai version features a completely custom engine while the Ubisoft Montreal version plays more like the classic Splinter Cell games. The games share the same general plot but feature different storylines, plot twists and levels. They do however, share the same background music, a few cutscenes and all voice actors. Another separate version for mobile phones was developed by Gameloft.
Splinter Cell: Double Agent received positive reviews from critics for most platforms. A sequel, titled Conviction, released in 2010.
