An off-white, free-flowing granular powder that can be used in a variety of applications, including hair conditioner, liquid soaps, shave gels and foams, wipes (baby and adult), makeup/mascara, AP/Deodorant solids, and lubricant gels. Solutions of HEC increases viscosity as mixing is applied.
HEC is easily dissolved in cold or hot water to give crystal-clear solutions of varying viscosities. HEC is generally insoluble in organic solvents. Apply continuous mixing until hydrated, usually 30-60 minutes, to avoid separation.
Hydroxyethylcellulose is a non-ionic, water-soluble thickening agent for water based cosmetic and personal care products that perform across a wide pH range and demonstrate high salt tolerance and broad surfactant compatibility, enabling clear formulations. It is a natural gum derived from pine and spruce tree trunks.
When thickening liquid soap containing surfactants, make sure to dilute HEC in water first. Stir it in at room temperature very slowly but very thoroughly. After this pre-mix has been thoroughly blended and is thick, add this in to the soap slowly and blend again. Add it and mix it in consistently till you get the results you desire. Keep in mind, it may take the HEC from an hour to 2 days to fully hydrate.
Used to thicken shampoos, gels, body washes, and add body and after feel to bubble baths, body care products, lotions and creams.
In hair gels as it will give a soft hold and a lovely hair feel without stickiness. It is a non-ionic, water-soluble thickening agent for water based cosmetic and personal care products. It can be also be used to efficiently thicken shampoos, body washes and shower gels.
