Soudal PRO 40P — what it is, its main specs, how and where to use it, and what to watch out for.
timber and wood elements — including in high-moisture and exterior conditions.
Features include:
Water resistant to class D4 (according to EN 204) — meaning very good durability in humid or exterior conditions.
Can bond to damp or humid wood surfaces.
Has a “foaming penetration” action to fill small gaps and voids between surfaces.
Open time of approx. 15 minutes. Clamp for at least 3 hours to get full bond strength.
Where & how to use it
Typical applications:
Bonding wooden construction elements (beams, panels) where high strength is required.
Window and door frames (including corner joints) that need to meet the D4 standard.
Indoor areas exposed to high humidity and outdoor areas exposed to weather.
How to apply:
1. Ensure surfaces are clean, free of dust/grease. Slightly moistening the surfaces helps curing for this PU adhesive.
2. Apply with a fine-notched trowel or brush to one substrate.
3. Mate the two parts within 15 minutes.
4. Clamp/press the parts together for at least 3 hours to develop full strength.
5. Service temperature range: It’s rated between approx. –30 °C to +100 °C in some data sheets.
???? Things to watch / compatibility notes
The substrate must be suitable (exclude PE, PP etc) because adhesion is not guaranteed on very inert plastics.
Ensure proper clamping/pressure during cure time; otherwise bond strength can be compromised.
The 15 minutes open time means you must bring the parts together quickly after applying.
Although rated for humid wood and exterior use, always check for compatibility with specific materials or finishes (especially treated wood).
Storage & handling: being a PU adhesive, there may be safety requirements (ventilation, skin contact etc) — check the Safety Data Sheet.
