Review of a Brand New Borderlands Fan
Story - 2.5 or 3.5/5 If we're being generous, the story is average, if not outright bad. It doesn't flow well, and many times, there will be moments that outright make no sense. If you are the type who loves stories and empathising with the characters, this game is not for you. Rather, I would recommend Borderlands: The Handsome collection. Gameplay - 4.5/5 There's nothing much to be said, really. The movement and sliding feel fluid, the guns are fun to shoot, the enemies are technically diverse, and the characters are fun, and they all have unique and amazing abilities. I went with Fl4k for my first playthrough, and I am still enjoying his playstyles and finding new builds. Great game, especially if you just wanna shoot stuff and don't care about the story. I must warn you the gameplay loop is basically: accept mission - kill stuff or fetch stuff - get loot and rewards. Yep, that is it. It doesn't vary much in that regard. The bosses are fun and tough, but not too hard. The only issue I have is that some bosses have extremely annoying mechanics such as immunity stages, random teleports, etc and some bosses have very little to no signals before they attack, which can make some bosses really tough and annoying. Characters and Comedy - 2.5/5 Nothing amazing, really. Sometimes, the game is funny, but overall, the comedy and characters are lacking. Customization and the General Interface - 3.5/5 There are quite a bit of customization options for each character. The UI is a bit small, especially when playing splitscreen, the menus are laggy, and the inventory looks messy and disorganised. Co-op and splitscreen is fun, and there are quite a few things you can do, such as duelling your friends and trading loot, though I have not tried it myself. Overall Rating - 4/5
