Old Smuggler is an ancient and very rare blended Scotch whisky produced way back when. This is a 1970s edition which was id bottled in the US by W. A. Taylor and Company. Its fine, smooth taste is due to its being specially blended from the finest of Scotch whiskies in the tradition of 18th century Smugglers who risked their life and honour to share its taste with their loyal customers throughout the islands. After over 180 years of being on the market, you would expect this drink to have picked up a few fans. This is indeed the case, with the bottling enjoying a cult following in Belgium and Argentina. The whisky was first named after smugglers who covertly plied their trade around the Highlands and Islands. The spirit itself is simple stuff, offering flavours of cereal sweetness, malt, vanilla, toffee, honey, apples and slight oak. An easy drinking blend that would do well in cocktails.
