Product details
Definition: It’s a topical antiseptic solution made with elemental iodine dissolved in a mixture of alcohol and water. Often also contains iodide salts (potassium or sodium iodide) which help increase iodine solubility.
Typical Strength: Usually around 2 % iodine (w/v) in many commercially available tinctures. Some “strong” tinctures may have higher concentration.
Appearance & Smell: Dark brown (because iodine is colored), strong antiseptic smell. The alcohol component gives a burning feel/sting when applied.
