Total Quality Management

This book has been designed as a textbook for BE/B Tech. students of most of Indian Universities. A reference table on the factors for quality control charts, numerical examples for each control chart, the questions for short answers, and a few website addresses have been included to obtain and sustain the interest of the student community and the teaching fraternity.The revisions in the ISO 9000, QS 9000 and ISO 14000 families necessitated this latest edition. Although the revisions in the ISO 9000-2008 version introduced only clarifications to the existing requirements of 2000 version, some changes were intended to improve its consistency with ISO 14001:2004. The revision in the 14000 family includes aspects such as PDCA cycle for implementation and the greenhouse gas accounting.Dr. R S Naagarazan (b. 1938) BE (Hons.), MTech., PhD, is working as a Professor and Director (Academic), Arunai Engineering College, Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. He was earlier the Principal, AEC, and for over three decades, a distinguished faculty, and Professor and Head of the Dept. of Production Engineering, Annamalai University. He is also co-author of Statistical Data Book, II Edn., 2005. He has presented/published more than 35 research papers in national and international conferences/journals, in the manufacturing engineering area. He has also acted as PhD guide and referee for research papers in Metal Matrix Composites.Prof. A A Arivalagar (b. 1968) BE, MTech., Gold Medalist in MTech. PhD, is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Adhiparasakthi Engineering College, Melmaruvathur, Tamil Nadu. He has co-authored a textbook on Engineering Mechanics. He has been teaching Production Engineering subjects for the past ten years. He has presented/published 15 research papers in international conference/journals. He has acted as Coordinator for the International Seminar on Taguchi Methodologies on Quality conducted during January 30-February 2002. He is a life member in Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE, the Society of Power Engineering (India) and the Internal Combustion Institute (Indian Section) IIT, Chennai.
