Dr Apurba Nandy joined SCB Medical College, Orissa in 1970 and then moved to Kolkata Medical College. Later he joined North Bengal Medical College in 1976 as HOD of Forensic Medicine. In Kolkata Medical College he was Professor and HOD of Forensic Medicine in 1985 and also from 1987 to 1997. He was Joint Secretary (Medical Education Service) to the Government of West Bengal (1997-98) and Professor-c.um-HOD of Forensic Medicine, RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata (1998-02). He was Principal-c,um Professor and HOD of Forensic Medicine of Midnapore Medical College (2002-05). Under his principalship, Midnapore Medical College was established and took shape. He was Principal-c.um-Professor of Forensic
Medicine in Katihar Medical College, Bihar (2005-08). As the Principal, he initiated several
PG courses there. He was Member of Senate and UG Medical Council of North Bengal University; Member of
Senate and PG Board of Studies of Calcutta University. He was UG and PG examiner of
Forensic Medicine of several universities of the country.
Dr Nandy was member of West Bengal Medical Council for a long period. He was Vice President of Indian Academy or Forensic Medicine for four years. For the first time in the history of West Bengal, he organised Zonal and also National Conference of Indian Academy * of Forensic Medicine in Kolkata. He is now engaged as Honorary Teacher of Kolkata Police Training College.
