She did her BS Nursing in 1977, MSc Nursing in 1985 and PhD in Nursing in 1992 from College of Nursing upgraded as National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh and did her MA in Public Administration from Correspondence Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh (India).She worked as Clinical Nurse and Public Health Nurse at Rajendra Hospital, Patiala and Nehru Hospital, PCIMER, Chandigarh. She worked as Lecturer in School of Health Sciences, Indira Gandhi Open University, New / Delhi on deputation and as teaching faculty in the college of nursing Nee National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh and worked in various positions.She has been awarded with University Gold Medal and Basanti Rai Award in 1985 and for meritorious services in Nursing in 1986. She had been teaching nursing administration to the nursing students of all educational levels for a long time and organized workshops on various topics related to nursing administration. She attended national and international conferences including telemedicine/telenursing and evidence based nursing practice and delivered more than 100 guest lectures, presented papers and chaired the sessions. She has been guiding, evaluating and conducting viva voce of many nursing students at BSc, MSc and Doctorate level.She had been the member of Nursing Board of Studies of Punjab University.
