Product details
The transport system is an integrated system consisting of five modes of transport: rail, road, water, air and pipeline. Every mode of transportation has its own characteristics and forms its own independent system. These different modes play their respective roles in the integrated transit system, complementing and depending on each other while working together to support social production, promoting economic development and improving people's material and cultural living standards.
The task of transportation engineering is to explore how to provide and improve the facilities for the transport system, including the planning, design, construction, operation management and maintenance of systems and project engineering facilities. Because the division of industry and the setting of majors are too detailed, the knowledge and understanding of transportation engineering, and acquisition of expertise by students of transportation engineering and technical personnel engaged in transportation engineering, is always limited to a certain mode of transportation or confined to only a certain aspect of the mode. The aim of setting up this course and preparation of the book is to provide a systematic introduction to all aspects of transportation engineering, thereby giving the students and professionals in the field of transportation engineering (and even non-professionals involved in related fields or those interested in transportation engineering), a comprehensive understanding of the
entire gamut of transportation engineering. From 1933, Ton,gji University has been offering the course of 'Introduction to Transportation Engineering'. This book is compiled on the basis of the edition of Introduction to Transportation Engineering textbooks edited by Yao ZuKang. The first chapter describes the relationship between transportation, economic and social development and its impact to the environment; analyses the composition of the transportation system, different kinds of characteristic composition of the transportation mode and its development trend while also introducing the present situation and existing problems of China's railway, road, waterway, aviation and pipeline transportation systems.
In Chapter 2, it introduces the types and characteristics of various means of the transport (railway vehicles, cars, ships and transport aircraft) and some operational characteristics related to the design of transport engineering facilities. Chapter 3 describes the flow characteristics (including velocity, density, traffic volume) of vehicles which are operating on transportation facilities, and introduces the basic con capacity, queuing and delays, and service levels which are closely related to the pla and design of the engineering facilities. Chapter 4 mainly introduces the basic co and steps of transportation engineering facility planning; emphasizes the basic co and modelling methods of transportation demand analysis and prediction, as well methods of economic evaluation and comprehensive evaluation of the planning sc
From Chapter 5 to Chapter 8, the functional requirements of railway engine road engineering, port engineering and airport engineering are briefly introduce layout and design of the main components are not involved in the structural of various structures. The last Chapter 9 describes the requirements and m of traffic control and management for various vehicles operating on transport facilities. This textbook was compiled by professor Gu Bao Nan and Zhao Hor of Ton,gji University, and reviewed by professor Wang Bing Gang of Chang Uni and professor Wei Qing Chao of Beijing Jiao Ton,gji University.
It is hoped that this book will be of some benefit to the readers, who are ur point out any errors that may have inadvertently crept into the book.
