We are at the threshold of a new technological era. The tools, the equip- ment, the machines are getting modernised everyday. Even the maintenance techniques, planning are being improved continuously to achieve quality. accuracy-precision and to create a non-interrupted production flow. The carefulness during installation, the procedural steps on servicing of machines with utter skill and experience and a proper maintenance schedule are the vital criteria to improve the productivity and to extract optimum output from the existing infrastructure.

are there in the market. But Prof. S.N. Bhattacharya has done an excellent job
covering a wide range of instruments and machines in this book.
Specially it will be of immense help to the students to get acquainted with most of the diversified but interrelated information in a single book. The technical and engineering students were also badly in need of such a book for a long period of time.
