About the author,
Collins C. Okpanum obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from the Faculty of Law University of Jos with a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in 1992. He won several academic prizes, including the coveted prize for the Best Student in Jurisprudence and Legal Theory. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993, and thereafter worked in several private law firms in Lagos where he honed his corporate commercial skills. In 1997 he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree from the University of Lagos, while continuing in private legal practice.
In 2001, the author was awarded the Global Ambassadorial Fellowship by the Korean Development Institute (KDI) Seoul, Korea, School of Public Policy and Management for a Masters Degree programme in International Relations and Political Economy. At the conclusion of the programme, the author was awarded the Prize for the Best Masters Thesis in the course for the 2001 academic year.
The author then proceeded to the University of Saskatchewan in Canada for another Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree in 2003, after which he was awarded the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) by the Government of Australia for a PhD at the University of Tasmania, Australia in 2004. On completion of his doctoral studies in 2007, the author returned to Nigeria the same year and joined the law firm of Templars as a Partner. He left private law practice in 2010 to join the services of Sterling Bank Plc.
