Professor Seeley was formerly Head of the Department of Surveying and Dean of the School of Environmental Studies. Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham (1970-82). He is now an Emeritus Professor of Trent Polytechnic and continues to be External Examiner and Adviser to various universities and polytechnics in the U.K. and overseas and Visiting Fellow to Thames Polylechnic. He is a member of the RICS General Counci: and was a member of the former IQS Council. He has been a local government chief officer and served for four years on the HQ staff of the Central Electricity Generating Board working on power station contracts, and with two firms of consulting civil engineers. As an author he has written thirteen technical books and is Series Editor for Macmillan's Building and Surveying Series. He has been a Visiting Professor to the National University of Singapore. Branch Chairman of RICS Notts and Derbyshire Branch (1976-77). and a long serving member of various RICS education committees. In 1980-81 he was chairman of the lOS Examination, Membership and Scrutiny Committee. From 1971 to 1978 he was a member of the CNAA Surveying Board. and was Secretary/Convenor of the Heads of Departments of Surveying in Polytechnics from the founding of the Association in Nottingham in 1973 until 1978
