PrefaceThe author feels great pleasure in presenting to his esteemed readers a thoroughly revised fifth edition of this popular book (IN MULTICOLOUR ILLUSTRATIVE EDITION) which caters to the needs of students studying Electronics and Communication at the diploma and degree levels. The technical level and writing style used are intended to make the text student-oriented so that it is easily readable and readily understandable.
Most of the elementary and redundant material has been eliminated and replaced with fresh material. Similarly, quite a number of elementary Solved Examples have been deleted and supplemented with new examples. A new chapter entitled Fibre Optics has been added to this edition for the first time. Its purpose is to introduce Fibre Optic Technology which has become very popular in the last few years. In addition to their use in communication, Optical Fibres are widely used in medical applications, industry, local area communication and computer communication etc.
I am sure that with this thorough revision and additions, my numerous readers both here and abroad-will find this edition more useful than the earlier ones.
