A significant portion of the investment is being spent on Al in defence across countries. Artificial intelligence has infiltrated practically every civilian industry imaginable. It has changed the way people and businesses work, and it is now swiftly becoming a necessary component of modern combat.
India is also taking small measures to incorporate Al-based technology into its combat and surveillance projects. In reality, the Ministry of Defence formed a high-level Defence Al Council (DAIC) in 2019, tasked with delivering strategic direction for Al adoption in the defence sector. The major objective of the DAIC is to guide government-industry collaboration for the deployment of such breakthroughs. Artificial Intelligence (AI), also dubbed as the Industrial Revolution 4.0, has been making giant strides in scientific and technological innovation across varying fields. It is capable of bringing significant transformations in the way civilian activities and military operations are conducted. Till now, the idea of attaining military superiority was conceivable only to a few countries like the US, China and Russia, who maintain large armed forces. Al, being a dual-use technology, may have interesting implications on the distribution of military power in the future. The book maintains a simple and comprehensible style of presentation for the different categories of readers such as students, researchers and professionals for their respective uses.
