Product details
The motivation to write this book came from the personal classroom experiences of the authors as lecturers at the Institute of Humanities (IOH), Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), Lagos, where they have taught courses in humanities, particularly Logic and Critical Thinking, for close to a decade now. It is their experience that at the beginning of every academic session, there is always the need to explain and try to convince the new students admitted into the various programmes in the university such as Engineering, Economics, Information Science and Media Studies, Computer Science, Mass Communication, etc. of the practical relevance of the humanities courses the university offers them, including Logic and Critical thinking, to their daily lives and future professional roles.
A quick Google search for the "Top 10 skills of the future" will certainly return responses in which critical thinking, analytical skills, complex problem-solving skills and creativity and innovation skills, feature prominently. These skills and more are expected of anyone entering the 21st-century job market or already in it, regardless of the person's professional background or course of study. In today's world of information overload and fakemedia content, nothing can be more crucial than cultivating the ability to think critically and logically so as to be able to analyse the avalanche of information at one's disposal, verify sources, and be able to make informed decisions.
