• How to Apply Butyl Tape for Leaks

For the longest-lasting seal, follow these steps:

1. Clean the surface: Remove all dirt, dust, moss, sand, or rust. Wipe the area with rubbing alcohol or acetone to ensure a grease-free surface and let it dry.
   Measure and cut: Cut the tape to the desired length using scissors (bitumen sticks to knife blades, so scissors are preferred).
   Peel and press: Peel off the backing film and apply the tape over the leak, overlapping the damaged area by at least a few inches on all sides
   Apply pressure: Firmly press and rub the aluminum backing with your hands or a roller to eliminate air gaps and bond the butyl rubber to the substrate.
