Question: What is the difference between the new578 and580?

There are some differences as follows:

1. The new578 supports Bluetooth dual-mode SPP and BLE, which can connect to a computer through SPP and a mobile phone through BLE;580 only supports the BLE protocol, and does not support the traditional SPP serial port protocol.

2. The new578 cannot be used as a Bluetooth master;580 can be set as a Bluetooth master and used as a pair with a580 slave.

3. The new578 takes into account the traditional Bluetooth SPP serial port protocol and does not support sleep and wakeup;580 is a pure Bluetooth low energy BLE product, supports sleep and wakeup, and has a longer built-in battery life.

4. The new578 needs to be connected to the computer's serial port and configured by sending AT commands from the computer;580 can be connected to the mobile phone via Bluetooth, and the AT command is sent from the mobile phone to configure it.

Q: I see through LightBlue that580 has a battery service (Battery Service), is there any reference value for the battery power percentage displayed by the battery service?

Answer: There is no reference value, so don't care about it. Because580 battery service measures the voltage output by the battery through the low dropout voltage regulator tube, not the battery voltage. When the remaining battery power is more than 20%, the measured voltage value is basically the same, and it does not reflect the actual remaining battery power. However, when the battery voltage is too low, the output voltage of the low-dropout regulator tube will also decrease. At this time, the measured data has reference value, so the blue indicator light flashes an alarm when the battery is low, which is of reference value of.

Question: Does580 support the ninth pin of the serial port for power supply?

Answer:580 can be powered by the ninth pin of the serial port, as long as the ninth pin is connected to a 3V-6V power supply and the fifth pin is grounded.

Remote Bluetooth AT command setting

You can send AT commands via Bluetooth connection to  set the adapter on your mobile phone, comparing with the traditional setting way via RS232 connection, the remote Bluetooth AT commands provide more convenient and simpler way to set the adapter. The remote AT command operation is very simple. Run "ATBlue" program on a mobile phone, tap "SCAN" on to find580, then tap "BT580" to connect, enter AT command and tap "SEND", you will receive return meage from the adapter. "AT+BT" is the testing remote AT command of580, if the test is OK, the adapter will return "OK" meage.580 provides a wealth of AT commands. Users can change Bluetooth role, serial baud rate, Bluetooth name, etc., and even preset the searching and connecting manner for580 master by sending remote AT commands.

Auto sleep and Auto wake-up

Auto sleep function: The adapter will enter sleep state if there isn't serial and Bluetooth data activity within 30 seconds, the power consumption of the sleep state can be as low as 0.1mA, which can drastically improve the battery life. Auto wake-up function: Serial data activity or Bluetooth data activity can wake up580 from sleep state and return to full-speed state immediately. The above power consumption waveform graphs show that the580 still perform Bluetooth broadcast when it is in sleep state and can be found by Bluetooth master device. The power consumption is almost zero during the interval of two broadcasts, while the broadcast power consumption in full-speed state is close to 10mA. It can also be seen from the graphs that the580 maintains the Bluetooth connection when it is in sleep, during the connection interval, the power consumption is nearly zero. The longer the connection interval, the lower the power consumption, the slower the Bluetooth speed, the connection interval of580 is very short, which can increase the data throughput of Bluetooth communication.
