4 Types of headlights 2020

On the basis of the level of brightness, headlights come in low beam or high beam types. The low beam is mostly focused ahead to provide adequate lighting without dazzling or blinding other drivers. It is mostly restricted to one side of the road while the high beam also called full-beam (or full light in Naija terms) gives a brighter center distributed, heavier amount of light to see the road more clearly.

1. Halogen headlights

Most vehicles are equipped with halogen Headlights. They are very popular and have been used for decades. Typically, halogen headlights contain a bright white filament bulb with a little yellow coloration. It surrounds a projector beam that makes the vehicle headlight look like eyes. It is very stylish with an appealing sporty outlook. It comes in H3, HB3, H7, and H9 bulbs, although aside these, there have been several advances in halogen technology.A little technical stuff: The halogen headlight is a combination of gases contained in a sealed unit that generates heat and produces a good level of illumination. The gases make the bulbs hotter and therefore brighter. An average standard halogen bulb would last about 800 hours and produce 1300 lumen.

One of the strong points of the halogen bulb is that it charges up in a short while. It is universal and so, very easy to replace. It offers sufficient lighting for safe driving on the road and highways.  

However, it is prone to excess heat and its filament bulb burns out and sometimes breaks. 

As the most widely used car headlight that has been developed, the halogen headlight is commonly used as parking light, taillights, reverse lights, turn signals, and others.

2. Hid Xenon headlights

The High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, also known as XENON headlight is an advancement in car headlight technology. It was created shortly after the halogen bulbs were created. It has distinctive features such as the cool radiance of its bright white/blue light bulb. The light is quite similar to daytime light, making the road quite lit up and brighter. The HID lights have been specially designed for the human eye so that drivers can become more relaxed, and able to see clearly without fatigue or tiredness.
