Other enzymes have fibrinolytic activity, but only true nattokinase has been demonstrated to be absorbed after oral ingestion as an active enzyme, and to have physiological efficacy. Caution: Although nattokinase is a safe whole food extract, caution should be used when using it with blood-thinning medications and/or high doses of supplements known to act as blood thinners such as vitamin E and Gingko biloba.
