leaking and rusted knub underneath blender.

I got the blender as a replacement for an old blender that was faulty for someone and before it got to the person it took a while; but after getting to them, when they eventually opened it and yried using it, it was leaking and when the person looked underneath the cup the knub underneath the cup which is what controls the blade was rusted which i believe is what is causing the leakage.
