Not a brand new drive
I call the customer care to confirm if this product is brand new before ordering. I was assured it was brand new only to find out that it's defective Seagate 1TB external hard drive that I purchased. The package was delivered while I was away on my company's two-week work rotation. Unfortunately, my rotation was extended by an additional five days due to operational requirements, so I was unable to inspect or test the product immediately after delivery. When I returned and connected the drive for the first time, Windows reported that the drive directory was corrupted. After investigating further, I performed the manufacturer's recommended diagnostic tests. The results are as follows: CrystalDiskInfo reports the drive health as SMART Caution, indicating storage media issues. The official Seagate SeaTools Long Generic Test failed, confirming that the drive has a hardware defect. These results strongly indicate that the drive was defective before I began using it. I have screenshots of the diagnostic results for your reference. Although the standard return period has elapsed, the delay in testing the drive was due to my work schedule, and the defect only became apparent upon first proper use.
