I thought it was rechargeable only but it comes with a finger battery which is rechargeable and replaceable thought not what I needed as the capacity of the trimmer is limited to the capacity of the battery which is rather small for it's function. Meaning it can't stay on for hours on end but at least the battery can be replaced.
