It works perfectly for my HDD. If it doesn't work at first, plug your system and make sure the system is charging, then check again.
Mine didn't work at first, then i discovered that my laptop was the problem, it was optimized for power conservation. So whenever its not plugged in (charging), the power distributed to each USB was limited and that was the reason it couldn't power the HDD (with the case).
But when i plugged it, the external storage worked perfectly.
To resolve this, so you'll be able to use the product without constant electricity, you must set your laptop to not conserve power when its not plugged in. A simple google or chatgpt search will do. Goodluck.
