My waist is 27in and hips 39. I went for size 30 and it fits well. Just a bit short(above my ankles) so I think length-wise it'll be great for you if you're 5'5 and under because I'm 5'6.5. The denim is super stretchy and soft on the skin and shade of blue just as seen in the picture.
