The Caterpillar 317-7485 Communication Adapter Group (commonly known as Comm Adapter 3, CA3, or ET-3 III) is Caterpillar's official diagnostic interface tool designed for heavy equipment, engines, and machinery. It serves as the primary communication bridge between a laptop/PC and CAT electronic control modules (ECMs) using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (CAT ET) software. This is the latest generation replacement for the older Comm Adapter II, offering improved reliability, faster data transfer, and broader compatibility with modern CAT machines.
