These bars add protection for the hardware that holds your skid plate/cross member at the mid point of your rig between the frame rails.
This is where your 4 link arms connect to the frame. In addition to protection these bars add yet more (10 Grams) weight at a very low point on the crawler.
This keeps your center of gravity and slightly shifted forward
