30 intensity levels allow you to increase the strength is small increments which is important when used on different body locations. A button lock feature locks buttons from accidental changes in intensity when carrying the device in your pocket.

Count Down Timer indicates when device will turn off. Set between 5 - 95 minutes or continuous for longer treatment times.

Description of Electrotherapy - TENS

What is TENS and how does it work? What is Electrotherapy (TENS): Electrotherapy is a physical treatment whereby electrical stimulation is applied to nerves and muscles via electrodes (also called electro pads) that are placed on the skin. Electrotherapy devices work in slightly different ways, depending on what type of problem they are treating. Electrotherapy devices that help with pain are called TENS, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator. How Does TENS work? TENS are designed to relieve pain by sending gentle electrical impulses through the skin to the nerves. Those impulses are sent through lead wires to electrodes that are strategically placed at appropriate pain sites. TENS units use a 2-way approach: First, the stimulation targets the sensory nerves, stimulating them to block pain signals and prevent their transmission to the brain. Second, it promotes production of endorphins, the body’s natural pain reducing substance.	Most effective way to use a TENS What is the most effective way to use a TENS unit? To achieve the best results of electrotherapy, it is important to remember that the therapy merely activates the body’s own pain fighting mechanism. Placing electrodes directly over or around the painful area delivers a pain blocking current to the nerves and blocks the pain. Health professionals recommend to slightly vary the placement of the electrodes each treatment to avoid skin irritation. What do I feel? You will feel variations of tapping, tingling and massage like sensations. Always start a therapy with lowest intensity and increase slowly. If a treatment becomes uncomfortable or you feel a stinging sensation, lower the intensity. Keep in mind that if batteries get weaker you have to increase intensity more. Because TENS therapy is considered free of any side effects, you can use it as needed.	How do I use a TENS Unit? Where can I use this device? The Sport TENS is effective for most aches and pains at any body location. Where do I place the Electrodes? For best results, place all 4 electrodes (sticky pads) around the area causing you the most pain. In the beginning, vary the placement slightly until you find the perfect placement for your specific pain. The Sport TENS can be used with only 2 electrodes or all 4 electrodes which is recommended. Which program do I use? The TENS Unit offers 8 different programs. Because each person reacts differently to electro therapy, there is no set program for any given body part. The best way to figure out which program works best for your specific pain needs is to try them all. Start with program one for a couple of minutes and work your way up to program 8. Once you know which program gave you the best relief, stick with that program number.
