Product details
A microphone shield, also called a reflection filter or vocal booth in a box, is basically acoustic treatment you mount behind or around your mic.
What it does
1. Kills room reflections
In an untreated studio or bedroom, sound from your voice/guitar bounces off walls, ceilings, and desks right back into the mic. That creates boxiness, reverb, and a “hollow” sound.
The shield absorbs those rear and side reflections before they hit the mic capsule. So you get a drier, more upfront, “pro studio” vocal.
2. Reduces unwanted room noise
It won’t soundproof your room. But it does cut down on flutter echo, computer fan noise, and ambient reflections from behind you. Great if you’re recording in Lagos where traffic AC noise bleeds in.
3. Makes mic placement more forgiving
Without treatment, you have to sing in the exact sweet spot of a treated room. With a shield, you get usable takes even in a corner or untreated bedroom.

What it DOESN’T do
This is important:
It’s not a soundproof box. It won’t stop outside noise like generator, cars, AC, or neighbors. It only stops reflections inside your room.
It doesn’t fix bass issues. Low frequencies still bounce.
If you put it in a corner with bare walls, you’ll still get some boxiness.
For best result: Use PF8 + heavy curtains behind you + a rug on floor + some foam behind you. That covers both sides.
