An optical endstop sensor is an electronic sensor used to detect the presence or position of an object without physical contact. It works by using an infrared (IR) LED on one side of the U-shaped slot and a phototransistor on the other side.
When an object (such as a flag or tab) passes through the slot, it blocks the infrared light beam, causing the sensor to change its output signal.
