Stool Softener

It works as a stimulant-free stool softener (laxative) to gently relieve occasional constipation, generally producing a bowel movement in 12 to 72 hours.

Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water. This can be brought on by a range of factors, including but not limited to:
• Strong medications, especially narcotics, antidepressants and iron pills• Dietary supplements• Change in diet or not eating enough soluble fiber• Too much dairy• Sedentary lifestyle• Stress• Pregnancy
If you have fewer than three bowel movements a week, stools that are hard, dry, or lumpy, difficulty passing stool or feeling that not all stool has passed, you may be constipated. Less than one bowel movement a week is considered severe constipation.

Managing Constipation
Some simple lifestyle changes may help prevent constipation altogether. Every individual is different, so consult your physician should you have any questions about lifestyle modifications.

• Eat more fiber: Think fruits, vegetables and whole grains

• Exercise regularly: This keeps stool moving through the colon

• Drink more water: Eight glasses of water a day (8 oz. each), about a ½ gallon, are recommended

• Avoid caffeine: This can be dehydrating

• Don’t hold it in: Go when you feel the urge
Directions
Take only by mouth. Doses may be taken as a single daily dose or in divided doses.

Adults and children 12 years and over: take 1 to 3 softgels daily
Children 2 to under 12 years of age: take 1 softgel daily
Children under 2 years: ask a doctor
