Hugo Boss founded his eponymous fashion company in 1924 in Metzingen, Germany. The company started out producing, jackets, work clothes, sportswear, shirts and raincoats. An early bankruptcy in 1931 left the company with just six sewing machines, but it was able to bounce back and revitalize itself.
